With the weather getting warmer, it’s a great time to get outside with your kids and explore our city!

Here are a few suggestions on child-friendly walks around the Kelowna area:

West Kelowna’s Gellatly Bay

The westside’s lakefront promenade takes about an hour to complete and stretches from the Gellatly Nut Farm to Rotary Park.

Make it an educational trip!

The signs along the route with information about West Kelowna’s pioneers and their stories provide an opportunity for a history lesson.

There is a mix of pavement and crushed gravel along the trail, so an umbrella stroller is not recommended.

Peachland Beach Avenue Walk

The paved trail beside the lake in Peachland is along Beach Avenue. This leisurely walk is 8km round trip.

Looking for a snack? Stop in at one of the many restaurants along the route or pack a picnic lunch to have on one of the many park benches.

There is also a playground along the route, perfect for a mid-walk break.

The Boardwalk in Downtown Kelowna

With multiple access points to the waterfront area, not only can you enjoy the lake view from the boardwalk, but you can also stroll through the Rotary Marsh Park and introduce your little ones to the local wildlife.

The flat 2km boardwalk is great for any stroller type. No all-terrain wheels necessary on the paved trails.

Bring your dog along with your baby! As long as you keep your Fido on leash, they are welcome to come along for the trek.

Paul’s Tomb

This trail is gravel, so if you don’t have air-filled tires on your stroller you might want to opt for a carrier for your little one.

If you park your vehicle at the mid-mountain lot on Knox Mountain, it takes about 30 to 45 minutes each way.

Bring the bathing suits! Everyone can cool off and dip their feet into the water at the beach at Paul’s Tomb.
