New data shows that the majority of Canadians are dreaming of visiting local destinations once it’s safe to travel.

Booking.com says that 51% of Canadians are wish listing vacations in “sunny city getaways and wine country escapes” across the country.

The destinations that are most popular include Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City and Niagara Falls.

This time last year, domestic properties accounted for 33% of Canadian’s travel wish lists, showing there’s been a jump in interest since the pandemic.

“Endorsements left for these destinations by past Canadian travellers on Booking.com suggests that their shared appeal lies in restaurants, entertainment and shopping, indicating perhaps the experiences that Canadians are most excited to embrace again,” said the travel company.

Canadians are still looking forward to once again exploring the world beyond our borders, with the top international wishlisted destinations being New York, US, Lisbon, Portugal, Paris, France, London, UK, and Tokyo, Japan.
