It will soon be possible to fly directly between Kelowna and Las Vegas.

WestJet announced Tuesday that the highly-coveted transborder connection from the Okanagan to the Sin City will return later this year after being scrapped in 2020.

Starting Dec. 15, the airline will fly between the two cities twice weekly, on Fridays and Mondays.

The flight time is around two hours and 40 minutes, departing from Kelowna at 8 am and landing at 10:39 am before turning around and leaving Vegas at 1:05 pm and landing in the Okanagan at 3:55 pm.

“WestJet is proud to add yet another transborder connection to our winter schedule, between Kelowna and Las Vegas,” said John Weatherill, WestJet’s Executive VP and CCO.

This is the second direct connection between Kelowna and a popular United States sun spot that has been added by WestJet this year, as the airline also flies to and from Phoenix.

"WestJet's unwavering commitment to our region exemplifies the power of partnership in fostering our economic position,” said Sam Samaddar, CEO of Kelowna International Airport (YLW).

“With WestJet's ambitious growth strategy taking flight, we eagerly anticipate the benefits it will bring, strengthening our ties and ensuring YLW continues to be the Okanagan’s link to the world."
