Four UBCO Heat teams were in action on Friday night.

On home soil, the men’s basketball team hosted the University of Victoria Vikes on the annual KidSport night.

It was a Vikes freshman who stole the show, however, as Scott Kellum knocked down eight threes to lead Victoria to an 81-46 win (HIGHLIGHTS).

Buzz Truss led all Heat scorers with 13 points in the loss.

On the women’s side, it was a bit closer between the Vikes and Heat.

In a back and forth game with 19 lead changes, Victoria overcame a one-point deficit after three-quarters to win 78-67 (HIGHLIGHTS).

The Heat got some balanced scoring the loss with four players ending the game with 10 or more points.

Meanwhile, the Heat’s men’s and women’s volleyball teams travelled to Manitoba to take on the University of Winnipeg Wesmen.

It was tied at one set apiece on the men’s side before the Wesmen pulled away to win the final two sets, taking the match 3-1.

It was a much happier result for the women, who earned their first road win of the year by sweeping the Wesmen 3-0.

Aidan Lea continued her impressive season for the Heat with a .818 hitting percentage as UBCO moves to 9-4 on the season.

All these teams will play again on Saturday night.
