The UBC Okanagan golf team has lost their university funding to continue the golf program for the fall of 2017.

In order to keep the program running, the team must come up with all the funds required.

The team now has a fundraising goal of $40, 000.

The team has been successful in competition for the past nine years.

In 2015, the women’s team won silver at the CCAA nationals and in 2016, a member of the men’s team placed fifth at nationals.

In September of 2016, James Casorso won the PACWEST tournament in Coquitlam.

The team has an online GoFundMe page for the public to donate.

The UBC Okanagan golf team is hosting a fundraising event called Battle of the Valley Wine Tasting.

The event takes place on Friday March 25th between 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Kelowna Golf and Country Club.

Tickets are $25 per person. Light snacks and six flights of wine are included with the ticket.

Battle of the Valley Wine Tasting will also feature a silent auction.

For tickets, call Cheryl at 250-762-2531 ext. 226.

Members of the 2016 UBC Okanagan Golf team include:

James Casorso (Kelowna, BC), Lauren Siemers (West Kelowna, BC) Grant Dollevoet (Kelowna, BC),

McKenna Lesiuk (Kelowna, BC), Derek Graham (Kelowna, BC), Oliver Rizun (Squamish, BC),
