Jammer, a police dog with the Port Alberni RCMP has received a set of shiny new canines after undergoing a procedure to add titanium crowns to several cracked teeth.

Veterinarians recommended Jammer receive the crowns to prevent potentially fatal infections if the cracked teeth had gone untreated.

RCMP later clarified the teeth are not designed to cause extra harm or for vanity purposes after receiving a flurry of negative comments on their Facebook page.

Jammer has since returned to active service after recovering from surgery.
