Credit Card Skimmer Found at Vernon Gas Station

Residents who may have used the Esso Gas station in Vernon on 32nd Street are being warned after RCMP discovered a credit card skimmer.

Vernon RCMP says the staff at the station at 3400 32nd Street found the skimmer on July 31st, 2015. The device was located on the ground and it is not known if it was used at the station.

“The skimmer is difficult to detect and appears to be a normal part of the device unless closely inspected,” said RCMP in a statement.

Credit card users are reminded to be careful when using their cards, and to pay close attention to their bills to ensure that they have not been the victim of credit card fraud. Any further questions regarding this release can be directed to the Vernon RCMP at (250) 260-7171.
