A bizarre set of actions in Vernon has resulted in three people being injured, two arrested, and a pedestrian struck.
On February 10th the North Okanagan RCMP responded to a call in the 3500 block of 27th Avenue after receiving reports of a disturbance.
When officers arrived they found a 23-year-old female pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle that had gone off the road. Police then learned that a man, who was on the scene allegedly walked over to the vehicle, broke the driver’s side window and stabbed the 18-year-old driver.
The injured driver and his 17-year-old passenger fled the vehicle before police arrived. The female passenger was taken to Vernon Jubilee Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver, Abd'l-Malik Loubissi-Morris, was located by police, arrested, and taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
He has been charged with assault with a weapon, which according to police stems from the alleged manner in which he was driving when his vehicle struck the pedestrian.
A 29-year-old man, Thomas Richie, was also located and arrested by police for assault with a weapon for allegedly stabbing the driver. Both men were held in custody and appeared before Vernon Provincial Court.
