An entrepreneur in Coldstream got his own justice this week by posting the video of a shoplifter online.

An employee working at Lavington Superette AFD went to fill their beer cooler after a woman left the store over the weekend.

"She noticed that there was some stuff missing so she marked the time down for me and then I looked through the video and found it,” said owner Andy Dalglish.

In the video, the woman is clearly seen hiding drinks under her clothes before leaving.

Dalglish said he posted it to Facebook because he wanted to shame her.

"That way it's some kind of punishment because nothing else usually is done,” he explained.

The Coldstream business man didn't report the crime against him but there is a silver lining.

The same woman came into the store the next day to buy something and Dalglish confronted her with the video.

"She denied it and then she looked at the video and said 'Oh yeah, OK, I'll pay for it,' so she paid for it the next day,” he said.

According to Dalglish, it was good justice, having had quite a few shoplifters over the years.

"It gets people thinking twice about it when they know there is cameras in there and they're going to get caught.”

The video he posted on Facebook (twice) has received tons of support online, including nearly 20,000 views and over 400 shares combined.
