The Ministry of Environment and Interior Health have issued a Dust Advisory for Vernon with coarse particles in the air expected to stay until there is a change in weather.

People with chronic medical conditions are urged to postpone strenuous exercise until the advisory is lifted. Staying indoors and in air-conditioned spaces helps to reduce dust exposure. Infants, the elderly and those who have diabetes, lung or heart disease are most at risk.

If you experience coughing or throat irritation you should cut down on outdoor activities until the special air quality statement is lifted.

Residents should also limit the amount of wood they burn outdoors, in fire pits, and should burn only dry seasoned wood.
