North Okanagan RCMP investigating hit and run that sent 1 man to the hospital

A 47-year-old Vernon man was seriously injured Friday night after being hit by a vehicle.

On Aug. 5, Vernon RCMP received a report of a hit and run involving a pedestrian in the 3700 block of 25th Avenue.

At about 11 pm, officers arrived on scene where BC Emergency Health Services and Vernon Fire Rescue were tending to the pedestrian.

The man sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital. He remains in stable condition on Monday.

According to police, video surveillance obtained by police shows the man crossing 25th Avenue and being hit by a small, dark coloured passenger vehicle.

The vehicle did not remain at the scene and has not yet been located.

A portion of the street was closed to traffic Friday night as investigators conducted a search of the area.

A member of the RCMP Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Services (ICARS) team attended the scene and is assisting with the investigation.
