A man is recovering in hospital after being found severely burned on the streets of Vernon.

Police were called to the 2800 block of 35th Street around 2 pm Sunday where paramedics and Vernon Fire Rescue Services were assisting the victim.

The 41-year-old Vernon man suffered “severe burns to a large portion of his body,” the RCMP explained, and was transported to hospital where he remains in stable condition.

Cst. Chris Terleski said the circumstances that led to the man’s injuries have yet to be determined.

Now, the RCMP is urging members of the public to come forward if they have any information that could advance the investigation.

“Anyone who was in the area at the time who witnessed the incident, or anything suspicious, is asked to come forward and contact police,” urged Terleski.

“We are also asking businesses and residences in the area who have video surveillance to review it and report anything suspicious."

If you do have information that could aid investigators in this matter, you’re asked to call the North Okanagan RCMP detachment at 250-545-7171.
