Vernon Mounties continue to investigate report of Friday afternoon gun shots

Mounties are investigating following reports of gunshots being fired in Vernon on Friday afternoon.

Front line officers responded to in the area of the 4100 block of 24th Avenue, where the shots were reported to be fired.

According to the RCMP vehicles associated with the shooting fled the area prior to police arrival.

At this time there have not been any reports of injury as a result of the incident, however, RCMP are continuing on with the investigation.

"The actions of these individuals put local residents and innocent bystanders at great risk in the area," said Cst. Jocelyn Noseworthy, spokesperson for the Vernon/North Okanagan RCMP. 

"We treat every investigation involving firearms extremely seriously and are asking anyone with information to come forward."
