One of Kelowna's most popular spots for delicious food and cocktails will soon hit Vancouver Island.

After becoming the Okanagan's first LGBTQ2+ lounge in January, Friends of Dorothy has announced it will open a second location in Victoria by the new year.

Rudy Tomazic, who created the popular Drag events NOIR and DIVA in Kelowna, is ready to bring the lounge's “Louis the XIV meets punk chic” aesthetic to the West Coast.

“We are proud to be joining the richly vibrant downtown Victoria community as Friends of Dorothy Lounge expands from Kelowna to the Coast,” said owner Tomazic.

“Bringing an open, inclusive environment for everyone, we will offer everything from casual cocktails to dramatic drag brunch.”

The Victoria location was planned in accordance with Dr. Bonnie Henry’s COVID-19 guidelines, including reduced seating, enforced seating capacity, wearing of masks and physical barriers between tables.

When permitted, the lounge will to host Drag Performances from local talent, live music, comedy shows, and live streaming events (such as QUSIC) in accordance with provincial health requirements.
