You probably know them as 100 Men Who Give a Damn. The fundraising group that meets quarterly has gone through a re-brand to become 100 Heroes Who Give a Damn. The group has not only opened the doors to women, but it's actively sought-out women to join. It's hoped that the change will add some new energy so it's all good news for the charities that benefit.

Spokesperson Darryl Reuter says the re-branding is already paying off. "I think for the next meeting which is November 6th we're expecting a lot of people. Like I think we're going to be upwards of 300 people and we've been doing about 100 to 140 for the men. So it's created a huge buzz."

The group's board reached out to people like Holly Routley, who works as a development officer at Okanagan College. She was quick to come aboard. "They gave me an invitation to come to a meeting and I was quite intrigued to hear about this new vision they had. Any time a group wants to gather together and do good for our community, I want to be a part of it."

The group gets three charities to send a representative to their meetings. After hearing the pitch, the members of the group each put $100 toward the one that makes the most persuasive appeal.

The first meeting of newly branded 100 Heroes Who Give a Damn meets Tuesday November 6th at the Kelowna Yacht Club with reception/registration at 5PM (cash bar) and the program getting started at 6PM.
