The Pets and People Visiting Society was established in 1995, and on average, provides about 3,000 hours of pet therapy visits to places like Kelowna General Hospital, seniors care homes, and long-term care facilities.

“Some of the stories and the things I’ve seen with kids and people in medical facilities has been really rewarding,” explains Sue Willis who has been a volunteer with the society (with her dogs) since 2002.

On Thursday, the lives of some busy Okanagan College students were happily interrupted, as dogs and their handlers from the Pets and People Visiting Society stopped by The Pit at the Student Services Building.

The purpose of the visit is seemingly pretty simple – take a break from the stresses of studying by spending some time with a variety of pooches dressed in their Christmas best.
