The Central Okanagan Hospice Association (COHA) is gifting over 200 hug scarves to Kelowna General Hospital healthcare workers.
The ends of each hug scarf are shaped like a hand to symbolize a warm hug when wrapped around the body for stressed healthcare workers.
“We are gifting over 200 scarves. We wanted to make scarves that had an abundance of colour, and unisex of course, so we’ve got pink and blue and purple,” said Natasha Girard, executive director of COHA.
The project was a few months in the making and all scarves will be distributed to several units at KGH.
COHA volunteers collaborated with local businesses such as Cottage Quilting, Charity Chicks, Fabricland and Brand Central to make the scarves.
“It's a really special day because it's letting our staff know that people are thinking about us,” said Derek Koch, spiritual health practitioner at KGH.
