The new Mission location for DunnEnzies opens today!
It was almost a decade ago that Karyn MacKenzie and Deb Dunnigan opened a little hole-in-the-wall pizza joint in downtown Kelowna. Since then, they've opened two more locations and the newest one will be the biggest yet.
"It's a little bit different than what we have downtown, which is our late night pizza," said Dunnigan. "Here it's different because it's a full restaurant."
Fans of the old Minstrel Cafe and Bar will be happy to see the old London Planetree still standing guard over the back patio and the layout is designed to accommodate live music. "We're really trying to pull it together so we have one of the better spots in Kelowna where live music is going to happen."
Behind the bar is a selection of craft beers with an emphasis on supporting local. The growth of their business has been gratifying for the pair, who have stuck with a simple formula of fresh ingredients and affordable prices. "We just expanded as it kind of grew."
The decor has a garage feel to it that's warm and inviting. Just how MacKenzie and Dunnigan like it.
"Come in, feel comfortable," beckons a smiling Deb Dunnigan. "Sit down, have a slice and a beer and chat and listen to some music."
