A new indoor baseball facility is now open in Kelowna, and it's designed to accommodate even the most serious ball-players.

Yardhouse has a pitching lab and a batting cage that can simulate any major league ballpark plus a weight room and more.

Manager Derek McPherson gave us an opening day tour.

"It started with a vision of high-performance kids," said General Manager Derek McPherson.

"But it's kind of evolved into a place where kids of all skill levels, both kids and adults can come in and swing the bat."

Still, the central vision is for Yardhouse to be a place where aspiring ballplayers come to improve their game.

"We offer lessons, clinics and camps," he said.

Most of all, the facility is an answer to the problems that families faced as they tried to accommodate training demands and school.

"We had parents driving to three different venues over the course of the week,' said McPherson, "for their kids to go to the gym, or their kids to throw, or their kids to hit and we just so a need to kind of consolidate that and have it in one spot."

The facility also includes a study area that's isolated from the training area, so students could get some homework done while they're waiting for a ride home.

The facility will be made available to members between 3:30 and 6 in the afternoons. Outside of those hours, members of the public are free to book some time.

You'll find Yardhouse on Spedding Court, which is off Baron Road in Kelowna.
