The crane is coming down at Ella, the first concrete tower to go up in the core of Kelowna's downtown. The 20-storey building is expected to be completed in the spring of next year. It changes the look of the downtown forever, but as we heard on the streets today, most residents welcome it.

The 116 unit building will soon have some company in that part of the Bernard District. The first phase of Brooklyn Bernard Block will reach 25 storeys by the time it's completed sometime in 2020.

At the other end of town, the 36-storey One Water Street is aiming for completion next year.

Across the street Ellis Parc, a 14-storey building adjacent to Prospera Place is also nearing completion.

And then there's the 33-storey Westcorp hotel and condo project near the foot of Bernard. A sales centre for that much-awaited project is expected to open to the public in the weeks ahead.
