This long weekend was a hot one in Kelowna, and people from all over flooded the waterfront to take advantage of their extra day off.
However, we wanted to test people's knowledge to see how much they knew about Queen Victoria, whom the extra day of sun is in memory of.
Queen Victoria was born on May 24 in 1819 and would have been 200-years-old. She was named queen 18 years later after the death of her uncle, William IV.
She married Prince Albert in 1840 and together they had nine children. In 1864 Prince Albert died and she fell into a deep depression. She wore black for the rest of her life in mourning. She then died Jan. 22, 1901.
After her death her son, Edward VII who sat on the the throne from 1901 to 1910 who was then succeeded by his son, George, who reigned from 1910 to 1936. Edward VIII only ruled for one year in 1936 because he fell in love with a U.S. woman. His brother George then ruled for 16 years until 1952.
Elizabeth II was crowned queen in 1952 when she was 25-years-old. She is the oldest reigning monarch at 93-years-old.
