The three Liberal MLA's in the Kelowna area are settling into their role as the opposition in government.
The trio all presented at The Kelowna Chamber of Commerce luncheon Thursday with Kelowna Mission MLA Steve Thomson and Westside Kelowna MLA Ben Stewart sharing the government-bashing duties.
Thomson has adjusted to his new role as a critic. "It's been a year of holding the government to account," said the Liberal MLA. He said the NDP in it's coalition with the Green Party is taking the economy in the wrong direction "focussing on what we see as a real tax and spend initiative." Ben Stewart was dismissive of the NDP government's budget surplus. "Those revenues," said Stewart, "were from taxes in 2017 that came out of a previous economy."
Kelowna Lake Country MLA Norm Letnick on the other hand kept his talk to the positives in the community. "Lots done, more to do," said Letnick, as he listed off a long-list of provincial projects worth celebrating. He spoke about everything from growth at UBCO and Okanagan College to transportation improvements and the expansion to the Myra-Belleview Provincial Park to name just a few.
