There were no immediate answers emerging as the RCMP began their investigation of a house fire in the McKinley area early this morning. It was a new home, in fact construction was just nearing completion.

RCMP Fire Investigator Cst. Kevin Hamilton spoke with KelownaNow at the scene.

The emergency calls started coming in at 5:41 AM, but by the time crews arrived, windy conditions made it too difficult for firefighters to beat back the heavy flames. The Kelowna Fire Department has already deemed the blaze suspicious, but Cst. Hamilton was not prepared to label it that way just yet. He said if it does turn out to be a deliberately set fire, it is an isolated incident and there's no reason for area residents to be worried.
