Being able to sip elixir created from grapes grown in fertile Okanagan valley soil and nurtured by the sun is part of what makes this area great.

On Friday, the Great Estates Okanagan Wine Experience Centre will celebrate its grand opening.  The centre will offer food and wine experiences, as well as daily tastings. They will also serve up some wine education.

Regional Visitor Experience Manager Sally Sharpe explains,  “In Napa and Washington State, there are a lot of experience centres where they are introducing Terroir work.”

Terroir is the environmental elements, such as soil and climate that can give the wine flavour and aroma.

The centre will be open until Sept. 30, from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. daily and Oct. 1 to April 30, from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. daily.  The grand opening takes place Friday, Sept. 21, starting at 6 p.m.
