Two strong female candidates will do battle over who should represent the Conservative party in Kelowna-Lake Country in the upcoming federal election.
Kelowna City Councillor, and local business person Tracy Gray has joined local developer Renee Wasylyk to seek the Conservative nomination for the next federal election.
Gray also sits on the Central Okanagan Regional District Board and Chairs the Okanagan Basin Water Board.
The niece of former Mayor Walter Gray announced her intentions at Sandhill Wines last Thursday.
Gray is nearing the end of her first term as a Councillor and the presence of her council colleagues at the announcement suggests she has some solid support.
But Wasylyk, was first to enter, telling KelownaNow that she enjoys the support of key members of the community and the Conservative Party.
More potential candidates are also expected to join the fray to see who will challenge Liberal MP Stephen Fuhr in the general election in the riding of Kelowna-Lake Country.
