Bring the Heat Clothing Drive

The UBC Okanagan Heat are hosting a clothing drive in support of “Inn From The Cold” (IFTC).

Starting on Jan. 2, donations such as backpacks, winter jackets, snow pants, gloves, toques and boots are being accepted both at the IFTC office on St.Paul Street and the university gymnasium.

The drive will conclude this Saturday evening as the UBCO men and women’s volleyball team host the University of Calgary Dinos. The community is welcomed and encouraged to take in the games and support this worthy cause.

Games are slotted for 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Admission is $10 but free for youth.

Renegade Take Over

Have a hankering only the vegan comfort treats from Renegade Food Truck can satisfy? Well, you’re in luck! The culinary wizards behind the local restaurant on wheels are taking over the kitchen at Arion Therapeutic Farms this Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The take over comes as part of Arions’ holiday fundraising event series, where they have been hosting various family-friendly events throughout the holiday season as a way to raise funds to support their animals.

In addition to tasty treats, attendees can enjoy crafts, face-painting and interacting with the animals.

4th Annual Christmas Tree Chipping for Charity

If you’re ready to rid yourself of your real Christmas Tree, the Peachland Fire Department is once again disposing of them correctly and for a good cause.

By donation to the Muscular Dystrophy of Canada, those who bring their decoration-free trees to the Peachland Community Centre this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. can have it chipped and disposed of.

The drive will be more than worth it to support this important cause, and you can make a whole outing of it! Bring the kids to enjoy free hot chocolate and an up-close look at one of the trucks.
