Council needs to consider amending two bylaws in order to approve carriage homes in West Kelowna.
These proposed amendments would affect the following zones:
- Westbank Centre Compact Residential Zone, RC1
- Boucherie Centre Compact Residential Zone, RC2
- Single Detached Residential Zone, R1
- Large Parcel Single Detached Residential Zone, R1L
- Agricultural Zone, A1
- Country Residential Zone, RU1

West Kelowna Council is considering an amendment to the Zoning Bylaw to allow the use of carriage houses on parcels within certain zones throughout the District. In order for a parcel to be eligible for the addition of a carriage house, the parcel would be required to adhere to a specific set of regulations. The regulations address a variety of siting regulations including required minimum parcel size, servicing requirements, allowable gross floor area, setbacks from parcels lines, required screening, etc.
Copies of the bylaws and related materials may be reviewed at Municipal Hall, 8:30 to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays, up to and including June 23, 2015.
