Evacuation Order Recommended Because of Westside Road Wildfire

The wildfire burning above Westside Road is approximately four to five hectares in size and according to the BC Wildfire Service, it is burning aggressively.

Fire Information Officer Navi Saini says they have recommended that the Central Okanagan Regional District issue an evacuation order for the Shelter Cove area. The fire is burning aggressively downhill and high winds in the area are making firefighting very difficult.

The evacuation order would be for approximately 30 properties in the area. There are 23 firefighters on site and the local fire department is also assisting. More information will be updated as it becomes available.
