It’s been a quiet week so far for Central Okanagan public school COVID-19 exposures.

However, School District 23 and Interior Health have now confirmed that a member of the Mar Job Elementary School community has tested positive for the virus.

It's the first case for the West Kelowna school and the potential exposure date is Nov. 23, says the IH website.

The affected person is self-isolating at home with support from public health teams and IH is contact tracing to follow up with anyone potentially exposed to the confirmed case.

“The safety and well-being of students, families, and staff remains our highest priority,” said a statement from SD23.

“Central Okanagan Public Schools will continue to implement the strict health and safety protocols and procedures that are in place so students and staff can continue to attend school as safely as possible.”

Both SD23 and IH will continue to work closely together to determine if additional actions are required, as well as support the Mar Jok Elementary community.

Students and faculty members are once again reminded to stay home from school if they show any symptoms of COVID-19.
