City of West Kelowna installing bladder dams on Gellatly Road

Motorists may experience some delays on Gellatly Road over the next two days as city crews proactively install bladder dams.

The flood protection measures are going on the west side of the road, from the Cove Lakeside Resort to the bridge over Powers Creek.

The work should be done by the weekend, as it’s only expected to take a couple of days.

Bladder dams will be in place temporarily until the threat of creek flooding has passed.

It’s one of several flood-prevention measures the City has put in place on Gellatly Road, which was one of the first areas to flood last spring.

For their own safety, the public is asked to stay away from flood protection installations.

Meanwhile, sandbags are still available for West Kelowna residents, whose properties could be prone to flooding, at the following locations:
