Work has begun on the new multisport dome in West Kelowna.

Work on the related Rose Valley watermain project has begun and it will be expanded to include construction of the multisport dome in the coming weeks.

It’s expected to be completed by the end of October, shortly after outdoor fields close and just in time for field sports during the winter.

The dome construction contract was awarded to TKI Construction for just over $3 million and it has a design, engineering, project management and contingencies budget of around $3.5 million.

Both the multisport dome and watermain projects are in line with what City Council budgeted in its 10-year capital plan.

Most work will occur between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on weekdays, excluding holidays, and only minor traffic delays may occasionally be required on McDougall Road.
