UPDATE: Kelowna man taken into custody after car wash assault

(UPDATE: July 17 @ 3:10pm) - A 33-year-old Kelowna man is in custody following an overnight assault in the Sonic Car Wash parking lot.

Police were called to the scene around 3:30am on Tuesday where they found a man suffering from serious injuries.

Later that day, Alberto Danny Rocualt was taken into custody in connection to the attack and has now been formally charged with aggravated assault.

(Original story: July 16 @ 12:45pm) - One man is recovering in hospital and police are seeking witnesses after an overnight assault in West Kelowna.

Officers were called to the Sonic Car Wash around 3:30am today and arrived to find the victim suffering from serious injuries.
 

While it’s early in the investigation, it’s believed that the assault was not a random attack.

The West Kelowna RCMP is working to identify the suspect and what transpired in the lead up to the assault.

“The assault took place in the south parking lot of the Sonic Car Wash where the vacuums are located,” explained Cpl. Meghan Foster.
