RCMP are investigating after a “set of suspicious circumstances” sparked an extensive search in West Kelowna today.

Just after noon on May 23, a couple hiking along the Purple Trail in the Rose Valley area reportedly heard what sounded like a bicycle crash noise and a male yelling for help.

Police along with Central Okanagan Search and Rescue, paramedics and fire crews responded and initiated an aerial and ground search that yielded no results.

“Considering the possibility that the individual we are continuing to look for may have left the area under their own strength, police are appealing to the public for information,” stated RCMP Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

Anyone with information is being urged to contact West Kelowna RCMP.
