West Kelowna Mayor Gord Milson made a splash christening phase two of the Westside Wine Trail on Thursday.

Mayor Milson sabered a bottle of sparkling wine in front of a crowd to celebrate the official opening of the Westside Wine Trail’s second trail.

Work on the trail took place between April and December of 2018 and involved several phases of construction.

Those phases included 4,100 square metres of concrete sidewalk, 5,700 square metres of cycling track, 15,300 square metres of asphalt roadway, 2,400 metres of concrete curb, 80 ornamental street lights and much more.

The total cost of the project, including construction, land acquisitions, utilities, watermain, geotechnical and contingency is estimated at $8.75 million.
