Shannon Lake Road will be getting a number of upgrades over the coming weeks.

OCL Group and Brantal Contracting Ltd. is beginning construction today on the stretch of road between Canyon Crest Drive and Tallus Ridge Drive.

Crews will be installing water main infrastructure, sidewalks, streetlights and landscaping, as well as making safety improvements for a new private development.

Work is scheduled for 7 am until 6 pm on weekdays until the early fall.

While Shannon Lake Road will remain open during work, traffic control will be in place including reduced speed zones, sections of single-lane alternating traffic and limited street parking.

The City of West Kelowna said it is working closely with the contractor to keep traffic flowing during peak periods.

“Outside of construction hours, the road will be open to thru traffic and work will not be scheduled on long weekends or holidays,” the City noted. “Transit and access for emergency services will be maintained during construction.”

Motorists are advised to allow for extra travel time while driving through this area and are urged to follow all construction signage and instructions from traffic personnel.
