West Kelowna RCMP are trying to piece together a bit of an odd incident from the weekend.

A severely damaged gold BMW 323i was discovered abandoned around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, near the junction of Hwy 97 South and Hwy 97C.

An initial survey of the scene suggests that the vehicle failed to negotiate the off-ramp of Hwy 97C to the southbound lanes of Hwy 97 South.

It appears as if the vehicle left the road, collided with terrain, rolled onto its roof and ultimately landed back on its wheels.

The occupant, or occupants, of the vehicle failed to remain at the scene of the crash.

Concerned for their safety, officers utilized thermal imaging and a police service dog to conduct a search of the area.

Despite using these resources, officers were unable to locate anyone with a connection to the vehicle and are still trying to piece together the investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or may have witnessed the driving behaviour of the vehicle prior to the crash, is asked to contact the West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880.
