West Kelowna Fire Rescue needed to respond quickly after hearing reports of an injured teenager.

According to WKFR, shortly after 11 am this morning, crews responded to an ATV accident one kilometre above the Tallus Ridge subdivision. The young teenager was coming down the trail when he lost control of the vehicle and flipped over.

Due to the crash, the teen sustained injuries to his lower body. In order to reach the injured driver, WKFR needed to deploy its new off-road Utility Vehicle (UTV 32).

The UTV 32 picked up additional medical supplies from the BC Ambulance Service and got to the injured patient. Then, the patient was stabilized, packaged, and transported to Kelowna General Hospital for further assessment.

More to come.
