Elderly woman hit and killed by car in parking lot of West Kelowna Walmart

(UPDATE: April 24 @ 2:55 pm) – A vehicle incident outside the West Kelowna Walmart has come to a tragic end.

Mounties have confirmed that an 82-year-old woman has succumbed to her injuries after being hit by a vehicle Monday morning.

West Kelowna RCMP say the woman was walking in the parking lot around 11 am when she struck by a pickup truck.

“The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with police,” says Ryan Sencar, Kelowna communications advisor in a release.

“The investigation is ongoing but the scene has now been released by police as the victim’s family has been notified.”

The Kelowna RCMP Victim Services team has been deployed and is available to any witnesses to the tragic incident. If you need to contact them, call (250) 470-6242.


(Original story: April 24 @ 11:59 am) – West Kelowna Mounties are currently at the scene of a “serious” traffic incident and are asking people to avoid the area.

There is a large police presence in the 2100 block of Louie Drive, an area near the West Kelowna Walmart.

The RCMP are asking the public to stay out of the area until further notice is given.

A release says that an investigation has been launched and more information will be provided when it becomes available.
