An incident of hateful vandalism in West Kelowna is under investigation.

The RCMP was called to the Okanagan Lake Shopping Centre parking lot around 5:30 pm on Wednesday after learning that a swastika had been spray painted on the ground.

“The swastika was put directly behind the vehicle of a Jewish man, who was understandably very upset when he saw it,” explained Sgt. Joel Glen.

“We are conducting a fulsome investigation into this incident, and appeal to anyone who witnessed it to come forward.”

Glen added that this type of hateful behaviour has no place in our community and will not be tolerated.

While the exact time of the incident is unknown, it’s believed to have happened Wednesday morning.

The investigation is ongoing and the West Kelowna RCMP is asking anyone with information or dash cam footage to reach out.

If you can help police with this investigation, you’re urged to contact the West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880.
