West Kelowna crews are back at it, flushing the city’s water mains to remove sediment that accumulated over time.

The program returns after a break over the winter, as the City says the warmer overnight temperatures allow crews to perform the important work.

Water main flushing occurs from 7:30 am until 4 pm on weekdays, although the schedule is subject to change for weather and other factors.

Residents will see notices posted when it’s time for their neighbourhood’s water mains to get flushed.

The work will resume in Zone 3, Lakeview Heights, which is where crews paused when the cold weather hit late in 2023.

“Any disruption should be brief and only occur while mains in the area are being flushed,” the City explained in a statement.

Residents in neighbourhoods where flushing is taking place will be on a temporary water quality advisory.

If needed, they will be able to secure clean drinking water from the bulk filling station at Shannon Lake and Asquith roads.
