If this weather hasn’t convinced you that spring is right around the corner, the return of major roadwork should do the trick.
The City of West Kelowna announced today that Phase 2 of the active transportation infrastructure upgrades on Glenrosa and McIver roads will begin on Monday.
As a result, there will be up to 12 weeks of road closures and detours in the area.
Following Phase 1 success in 2020, we’re investing federal Gas Tax Funds, development cost charges and City reserves into Phase 2 Glenrosa Active Transportation Upgrades starting March 8 - McIver, Glenrosa to McTaggart; Glenrosa, Morningside to Webber. https://t.co/5VTXTqULOG pic.twitter.com/NoeJJnRj1d

Glenrosa Road will be closed from Morningside to Webber, while McIver Road will be shut down between Glenrosa and McTaggart.
Detours involving Yorkton Road, Morningside Drive, McTaggart Road, Gorman Road and Webber Road will be implemented, with a 30 km/h speed limit in place.
The City provided a list of things it will be doing in an effort to mitigate traffic concerns during construction, which include:
- Reopen both lanes most weekends; motorists can expect uneven or gravel surfaces.
- Open the southbound lane of Glenrosa (between Morningside and Webber) after hours weekdays, but require northbound traffic to continue to use the detour at all times from Monday to Friday.
- Close Yorkton north of Morningside to thru traffic and block off Larsen at Yorkton.
- Install a temporary three-way stop at Glenrosa/Morningside/Glen Abbey.
- Temporarily move the bus stop on Glenrosa at Morningside north of the intersection.
Phase 1 of this project, which happened in 2020, cost the City $4.6 million.
