The cold is here for a while, so why not embrace it and learn a little bit about one of Canada’s most romantic wines.

In anticipation of Grizzli Winery’s upcoming Icewine Festival, they are hosting complimentary behind the scenes tours of the icewine making process this weekend.

In icewine production, you wait for temperatures to drop at least below -8C, so grape harvesting happens in the dead of night anytime from December to January.

“Now, Canadian winters are not just known to bring snowman building, fireplace snuggling, and hot chocolate sipping,” says Breanna Nathorst, coordinator at Grizzli Winery.

“Thanks to our below-freezing temperatures, Canadians get the annual chance to craft a drink so precise that the slightest change in temperature can ruin all efforts. So rewarding that even the harshest crafting conditions are worthwhile. And so deliciously sweet that you’ll have no choice but to come back for more.”

Daily tours will take place at 11 am, 12 pm, and 3 pm, today and tomorrow. No need to call ahead and book, just show up!

The Icewine Festival on Jan. 25 and 26 will feature Grizzli Winery’s four award-winning icewines, alongside local culinary creations for pairing. There will be a firepit overlooking the mountains, and hot chocolate to warm you up.
