(UPDATE: April 27 @ 11 a.m.) — The BC Wildfire Service has five firefighters tackling a blaze six kilometres outside Chase that ignited yesterday afternoon and is now estimated at two hectares in size.

Fire information officer Jody Lucius said it is human caused, with clear skies and no lightning on Thursday to spark the fire.
It's burning south and slightly west of Chase near Highway 1 and is within fire department jurisdiction. Crews are assisting the Adams Lake Volunteer Fire Department.
"Today, they will be working on mop-up and toward minimizing any flare ups over the weekend," Lucius said.
BC Wildfire is asking the public to be cautious with fire as the grass starts to dry out. Lucius said the most recent provincial forecast predicted a somewhat normal fire season, but long-term forecasting is difficult to rely on.
"It’s limited in what it’s capable of sort of telling us and long-term forecasting doesn’t take into account things like heat waves and wind storms and those things obviously very much impact wildfire," she said. "So, it’s really hard for us to predict too far ahead."
(STORY: April 26 @ 4 p.m.) — BC Wildfire Service has confirmed that they are on their way to a possible wildfire west of Chase.
They are sending six firefighters to assist local departments with the reported fire. An exact location of the fire has not yet been confirmed.
