Brush fire along Shuswap Road last night results in evacuation of nearby residents

A brush fire last night in the 3000 block of Shuswap Drive, Kamloops, resulted in the evacuation of some nearby homes.

Kamloops RCMP were notified of the fire at about 9 p.m., after which BC Wildfire crews attended and quickly brought the fire under control. Crews remained on scene overnight to monitor.

The fire was in close proximity to the Country View Estates mobile home park, and residents were evacuated as a precaution until the fire was confirmed as under control.

The Kamloops RCMP say that all the evacuated residents are now back in their homes.

Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
