UPDATE: Fire under control, Highway 33 open to alternating traffic

(UPDATE: 3:35 p.m.) -  KelownaNow's reporter on the scene says Highway 33 is now open to alternating traffic and the grass fire is under control but firefighters remain at the scene.

(UPDATE: 2:35 p.m.) - A KelownaNow reporter at the scene says that there are no more visible signs of flames, but firefighters continue to put out hot spots.

Traffic into Kelowna from Joe Rich has been temporarily blocked off, but crews are still allowing vehicles to travel east on Highway 33.

(UPDATE: 2:20 p.m.) - Six firefighters from the BC Wildfire Service are en route to the grass fire off Highway 33.

According to the BC Wildfire Service, the fire has quickly grown to 1.5 hectares, but no structures are in imminent danger at this point.

No air support has been requested at this time.

(Original story: 1:50 p.m.) - A grass fire has been reported near Black Mountain.

It appears to be in the area of Brentwood Drive and Highway 33. 

According to a witness, fire trucks are already on scene and battling the fire.
