A team of RCMP investigators are continuing their investigation into last Saturday’s interface fire in Lake Country.

In order to aid their efforts, a dedicated tip line has been set up to encourage anyone with any kind of information to contact police.

“Resources from Lake Country, Kelowna and the South East District area have been pooled to conduct an in-depth investigation and fully determine the cause of the fire,” said Cpl. Dan Moskaluk.

The fire started at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 15th in the Okanagan Centre Road area of Lake Country.

It spread quickly thanks to strong winds and heavy conditions, reaching the first home in less than 30 minutes.

Over the course of Saturday evening, the fire reached a size of 80 hectares and destroyed eight homes in the area.

“At this time we are treating this fire as suspicious and believe it to be human caused,” Moskaluk said. “As is the case with many investigations, it is information from the public that solves them.”

If you do have information about this fire or any suspicious activity in the area, contact the RCMP at 250-707-8025.
