The BC Wildfire Service has implemented a restriction order in a popular Kootenays recreation area.

It affects the Glacier Creek area, near Duncan Lake and the Purcell Wilderness Conservation Park.

BCWS said it issued the order in response to the fast-growing B-Flat Peak wildfire.

When the order was issued, the fire was estimated to be 10 hectares.

It is now 100 hectares.

“In the interest of public and responder safety, this restriction is effective immediately and will remain in place until October 15, 2021, or until it is rescinded,” BCWS explained.
