The addition of the fire to the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) map near Darke Lake early Thursday evening was concerning despite its small size.

“The winds right now are intense with a cold front coming in tomorrow,” said a post from the Okanagan Fire Scanner X account.

However, crews managed to get to the new fire quickly and it did not spread throughout the evening.

This morning, the BCWS provided an update that said the fire was now considered held at just one hectare in size.
