Never before has an American vote stirred so many strong feelings on this side of the border.

People here are talking about it, and even betting on it. Almost everyone has opinions about the upcoming US Presidential Election and some people were kind enough to share them when KelownaNow came asking with Tuesday's vote looming.

The majority of people we encounter on the streets of Kelowna would support Joe Biden if they had a chance to vote. "I hope Trump doesn't win," offered one man. "I just think he's a bad person." There is also a general belief Biden is more likely to win than Trump.

But the confidence level in the polling is not very high. People remember how pollsters also predicted a Democrat victory four years ago. And there's concern among Biden supporters about how Trump might react to a loss. "If he loses, it's going to drag out forever," said one woman on Bernard Avenue.

There are also pockets of Trump support on the streets, "I just really hope Trump gets in," said one young man. There are others who have made a conscious effort to avoid paying any attention.

People in our province placed about $2M in bets on the outcome through the BC Lottery Corporation.

That makes it the most popular betting event in PlayNow.com history. Interestingly, the majority of the wagers were on a Trump win, which would pay more if he wins.

Many will be watching Tuesday night to see what happens.
