Vancouver Career College is close to pulling out.

The impact that's resulted from the presence of the nearby Cornerstone emergency Shelter on Leon Avenue has become more than the facility can bear.

Director Monica Klanyi says her students no longer feel safe and sometimes find themselves "stuck" inside with people camping in doorways unwilling to move.

Every day there is "mess" to clean up around doorways.

BC Housing recently announced the 80 bed facility will remain in place for another year. Klanyi says unless there are major changes in how Cornerstone operates, the college will have to find a new home.
